The summer navigation season has begun in Moscow

Summer navigation on the Moskva River started in Moscow on April 24. According to Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, according to tradition, the city services carried out a large amount of work by the beginning of the meeting: embankments, parapets and fences were put in order, berths and gangways to the water were updated.

"If necessary, the granite and concrete foundations of the berths were repaired, and the rubber bumpers were replaced," the mayor wrote on his personal blog. — Updated the markings of the boundary lines and signs of movement for boarding and disembarking."

The safety of the water area of the main waterway of the capital is monitored around the clock by the River Situation Center, which has at its disposal half a thousand surveillance cameras, as well as the Moscow River Police. Its employees patrol the area with a total length of 670 km. A special Water Patrol is also on duty during the navigation season.

The mayor noted that the popularity of river cruises and walks is constantly growing. "Last season, the number of arrivals and departures of cruise ships from the berths of the Northern and Southern River Stations increased by 10%, and the number of passengers increased by 15%," Sobyanin said, adding that this year the number of berths is projected to grow by another 15%.

In the upcoming season, cruise ships will sail to dozens of cities in Russia. Among them are St. Petersburg, Yaroslavl, Kazan, Perm, Ples, Kostroma, Samara and others. One of the most famous routes, the Moscow River Golden Ring, will pass through the center of Moscow, along the Kremlin and the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.

A boat parade will be organized on the Moskva River in honor of the opening of the navigation season. More than 20 pleasure boats, as well as electric vessels and the crew of the Ministry of Internal Affairs water transport will take part in it. The upcoming celebrations at the Northern and Southern River Stations, timed to coincide with the start of navigation, are scheduled for April 27.
