- Konyukhov's wife told about the connection with the traveler and about the trip to China

Irina, the wife of Russian traveler Fyodor Konyukhov, told Izvestia on April 24 how she keeps in touch with her husband when he is on an expedition. The woman also shared her impressions of her trip to China.
"We have several channels of communication with him: satellite channel, special communication. <...> Sometimes we even managed to transmit photos. This time, there was an amazing amount of communication via the phone, through the social media system," Konyukhova said.
According to her, they were very impressed by Dalian, where a traveler arrived earlier that day after an interrupted solo sea expedition from South America to Australia. Irina said that they did not expect the city to be so large.
"The city, of course, impresses with its development, its industrial might and hospitality, it is well-groomed, and I really like the Chinese people, they are very friendly. We feel like we're at home here. And we were very well received here," the woman said.
According to Konyukhova, the country is sensitive to the history of Russian-Chinese relations.
Konyukhov became the first in history to cross the South Atlantic on a rowing boat. On March 15, it was reported that the traveler spent 100 days in the Southern Ocean, having covered about half of the route from South America to Australia on the rowing boat Akros.
The voyage was designed for about 200 days, but on the 114th day Konyukhov completed the crossing of two oceans due to numerous failures of the ship's control and life support systems. The next day, in the middle of the Indian Ocean, he boarded a cargo ship bound for China.
