- The media reported on the anxiety of Europeans due to the growing split with the United States in the context of Ukraine

European officials fear that disagreements over the settlement project proposed by US President Donald Trump in Ukraine will put bilateral relations between European capitals and the United States to the test. This was reported by the Financial Times newspaper on April 24.
"Some European officials fear that disagreements over the unilateral draft agreement proposed by the Trump administration will jeopardize bilateral relations with London, Berlin and other capitals, undermine transatlantic security and potentially disrupt the NATO summit at the end of June," the publication says.
According to the newspaper, Trump's demands that Ukraine recognize Crimea as part of Russia as part of a peace agreement with Moscow have put European capitals in front of a difficult choice: support Kiev or agree with Washington's position.
On April 23, Trump said that the United States is experiencing more difficulties in negotiations with Ukraine than with Russia, with which agreements have been practically reached. The American leader also expressed the hope that the Russian and Ukrainian sides will be able to reach an agreement.
On the same day, it was reported that the United States was outraged by Ukraine's refusal to recognize Crimea as Russian territory. It was clarified that representatives of the American delegation canceled their visit to London for the next stage of negotiations on resolving the Ukrainian crisis amid "anger in Washington" due to Kiev's unwillingness to agree to the official recognition of Crimea as part of the Russian Federation.
