Dodon announced the march of the "Immortal Regiment" in Chisinau on May 9.


A march of the "Immortal Regiment" will be held in Chisinau in honor of the Victory Day celebration on May 9, despite the prohibitions of the authorities. This was announced on April 24 by the former President of Moldova, the leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon.
"On May 9, as every year, we will come out en masse to pay tribute to the fallen. We invite everyone who honors history and ancestors to join us, despite any attempts at intimidation by the authorities <... > No one can forbid us to remember," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
According to Dodon, the march will take place in a single column without the presence of party flags. He added that the route was built from the Stefan cel Mare monument to the Eternity Memorial. The former president clarified that such an initiative is necessary in order to honor the heroes of the Great Patriotic War (WWII).
On April 8, the Serbian Minister responsible for international economic cooperation, Nenad Popovic, announced that Serbia would hold a march of the Immortal Regiment in honor of the 80th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War. Plans to hold an action "Immortal Regiment" this year were also announced in Slovakia.
