The psychologist talked about a way to protect loved ones from scammers

Scammers can often manipulate emotions by pretending to be close relatives in trouble. Elizaveta Kulikova, a clinical psychologist at Pirogov University, spoke about how not to fall for their tricks and protect the older generation from deception.
In order not to become a victim of fraudsters, the expert advises creating a code word that only close people will know. According to her, this will help protect themselves from intruders who, posing as relatives, claim that they urgently need money, for example, because of an accident or detention.
"It's also worth telling your older relative what to do if scammers call him. You need to say, "You have my phone, call me, we'll decide what to do." In general, you can put several contacts of close relatives or banks and others on your phone so that you can be at hand during this dangerous period," she said "Газете.Ru ".
The psychologist pointed out that in such schemes, scammers put pressure on emotions, causing an instant reaction of fear. The specialist advised to reset the call and dial the number of a loved one to clarify the situation.
On April 15, the Department for Combating the Illegal Use of Information and Communication Technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation warned about a new scheme of fraudsters to steal money and personal data from Russians. According to the agency, now the attackers call citizens and introduce themselves as employees of the Federal Tax Service of Russia, after which they convince the person that there is no information about income for the past year on the 3-personal income tax form.
