The head of the Department of Government Efficiency of the United States (DOGE), Elon Musk, and the American Minister of Finance, Scott Bessent, had a verbal altercation at the White House. This was reported on April 23 by the Axios portal, citing sources.

"Last week at the White House, Elon Musk and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant in the presence of President [of the United States Donald] Trump and other officials had a heated exchange during a dispute about the US Internal Revenue Service," the portal said.

Disagreements between politicians began at the stage of formation of the current US administration after Trump's victory. In particular, Musk initially promoted the idea of appointing Howard Latnik, rather than Bessent, to the post of finance minister, the portal writes.

According to the publication, last week, Bessent accused Musk of inflated promises and insufficient budget cuts, to which the head of DOGE called the finance minister an "agent of Soros" and accused him of managing a "failed hedge fund."

"This time, the dispute was so "heated" that one of the assistants had to separate Bessent and Musk," the publication says.

On April 22, Musk announced a reduction in his participation in the work of the Department of efficiency of the US government due to the drop in profits of his company Tesla. According to the entrepreneur, he will continue his work in the department, devoting no more than two days a week to it.
