The US military contingent is beginning to scale back its presence in northern Syria. This was reported on April 23 by the Syrian newspaper Al Watan.

"In the afternoon of today, hundreds of heavy trucks belonging to the forces of the international coalition led by the United States left their military bases in the vicinity of the city of Al-Shaddadi in the south of Al-Hasakah province," the publication said in a Telegram channel.

According to the newspaper, the columns headed towards the Iraqi border.

On April 18, the Pentagon confirmed a reduction in the number of US troops in Syria to less than 1,000 in the coming months. In a statement, the US Department of Defense noted that over the past 10 years, the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS (IS, an organization recognized as a terrorist organization and banned in the Russian Federation) has achieved significant success.
