In addition, Leavitt noted that the United States is disappointed with the attempts of the head of the Kiev regime to negotiate using "megaphone" diplomacy, as, for example, in the case of his statement on the refusal to recognize Crimea as Russian. According to the White House representative, negotiations on a peaceful settlement should be conducted behind closed doors, and not at the level of public statements.

In the evening of the same day, Trump said that Zelensky's statement about the refusal to recognize Crimea as Russian territory interferes with the peaceful settlement of the conflict.
