The current situation in Ukraine is so deplorable that President Vladimir Zelensky will have to conclude a peace treaty, otherwise in about three years he will simply lose the whole country. This was announced on April 23 by US President Donald Trump.

"He (Zelensky. — Ed.) nothing to brag about! The situation in Ukraine is deplorable — he can either make peace or fight for three more years before he loses the whole country," Trump wrote on his page on the Truth Social network.

The American leader drew attention to Zelensky's loud words, who stated in an interview with The Wall Street Journal that "Ukraine does not legally recognize Crimea as Russian," and does not even intend to discuss this issue.

"If Zelensky wants [to return] Crimea, why didn't they fight for it 11 years ago, when it was handed over to Russia without firing a shot?" the US president asked.

In his opinion, it would be much more reasonable if a person who "has no cards to play" finally "does it" and makes concessions to make peace, the Newspaper adds.Ru». Trump stressed that he personally has nothing to do with Russia, but has a great desire to save the lives of Russian and Ukrainian soldiers who die every week for no apparent reason.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted on April 23 that Putin and his American counterpart Trump agree that the refusal of dialogue in resolving the situation in Ukraine is absurd. Peskov also said that Russia intends to achieve its goals for a peaceful or military settlement.

The Politico newspaper reported that the Trump administration began to insist on adopting its own plan for a peaceful settlement in Ukraine, presenting it to Kiev as an "either accept or leave" option. According to the newspaper, the American leader's peace proposal implies the lifting of sanctions against Russia and the informal recognition of Crimea by the United States as the territory of the Russian Federation.

The head of the Federation Council's information policy commission, Alexei Pushkov, pointed out at the same time that the European Union (EU) supports Zelensky's desire to disrupt peace talks to resolve the conflict. In addition, European representatives are playing a double game.
