The Shcherbinsky District Court of Moscow sentenced Vladimir Mednikov and Alexey Sychev, employees of the ROSSETI power grid company, to 8.5 and 9 years in prison in a case of receiving a particularly large bribe. This was announced on April 23 by the press service of the courts of general jurisdiction of the capital.

"The court of the capital has pronounced a verdict against the managers of the ROSSETI energy grid company in the case of receiving a particularly large bribe," the court's Telegram channel says.

It is specified that both defendants were found guilty of committing a crime under Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Receiving a bribe on an especially large scale").

Mednikova was sentenced to 8.5 years in prison, and Sychev to 9 years, and they will serve their terms in a high-security penal colony. Both defendants will also have to pay fines.

Earlier that day, the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow sentenced Sergei Mochalnikov, ex-Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, to one and a half years in prison for abuse of office. He signed contracts that provided for the liquidation of unprofitable coal mines. However, in fact, the terms of the contracts were not fully fulfilled, having been accepted by representatives of the Ministry of Energy.
