- A resident of Veliky Novgorod spoke about the brutal practices in the local organized crime group

The REN TV channel will show the documentary "The Last Gang" about the organized criminal group Kolya Besa (Nikolai Kravchenko), which actually took control of the Novgorod region in the 2000s. The premiere of the film will take place on April 26.
The interview for the film was given by a local resident Evgeny Vasiliev, whose brother was in the group.
"[One day] he (brother. — Ed.) he came with a severed finger on his hand, with a little finger, and said that a fan on his car had accidentally gone off under the hood and his finger was cut off," Vasiliev said.
Later it turned out that one of Kolya Besa's subordinates ordered Evgeny's brother to cut off his finger because he was in an accident in the car of one of the criminal authorities.
In the 2000s, the group actually controlled 70% of the economy of Veliky Novgorod and the region. According to law enforcement agencies, the organized criminal group accounts for about 300 murders.
The film will feature exclusive materials from Kolya Besa's family archive, as well as dozens of interviews with investigators, operatives and witnesses of the events described.
The premiere of the film will take place on April 26 at 17:00 on REN TV.
On April 16, the prosecutor's office requested from the Moscow City Court from 23 to 25 years in prison for members of the Taganskaya organized crime group. There were 10 members of the group in the dock. Depending on their role in the organized criminal group, the defendants were found guilty of creating and participating in an armed gang and criminal community, murder, kidnapping, theft, robbery, extortion and illegal arms trafficking.
