Russian President Vladimir Putin posthumously awarded the Luke Medal to Crimean paramedic Alexander Pechelatov, who was killed by a patient in the Irkutsk region in November 2024. The relevant decree was posted on the website of the official publication of legal acts on April 23.
"To award Alexander Vyacheslavovich Pechelatov with the Luke of the Crimea Medal <...> (posthumously)," the document says.
The deceased held the position of an ambulance paramedic at the Kazachinsko-Lena Regional Hospital of Public Health.
The death of a paramedic as a result of an attack by a patient who was being transported to the hospital was reported on November 22 last year. It was clarified that the man stabbed the paramedic in the chest area. A criminal case was opened on this fact under Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder").
