- The media reported on the availability of pipes in Germany for the repair of Nord Streams

About a thousand pipes from Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 companies are stored in a warehouse in the federal state of Mecklenburg in Germany, which is enough to repair Nord Streams (JV). This was reported by the Ostsee Zeitung newspaper on April 23, citing sources.
"These [warehouse] stocks have a high cost. This number of pipes should be approximately enough for the damaged areas," the publication says.
According to the newspaper, Nord Stream's lawyer Hans-Peter Huber confirmed that the pipes belong to the operators of Nord Streams. It is clarified that the situation is complicated by litigation due to the debt of Nord Stream 2 to small creditors. If the company is declared bankrupt, about half of the pipe stock can be auctioned off.
The sources of the publication estimate the total cost of 1 thousand pipes at about €25 million. It clarifies that if they are used to restore the Nord Streams, repairs are "relatively easy in a technical sense."
On April 1, Germany raised the issue of the fate of SP-2 after the conflict in Ukraine. The Bundestag reported that independence from Russian gas is of strategic importance for the federal government from the point of view of security and it adheres to this course. They also stressed that Nord Stream 2 is under US sanctions.
On March 20, the Bild newspaper wrote that the SP-2 gas pipeline could be transferred to the control of the United States so that Germany could receive gas from Russia through it. It is noted that in order to implement this option, anti-Russian sanctions must be lifted not only by the American side, but also by the European side.
