Experts talked about the advantages of abolishing the visa regime with Oman

Oman is becoming an increasingly attractive destination for Russian travelers looking for new experiences in the Middle East. This country combines unique natural landscapes, rich cultural heritage and a high level of security, making it an ideal choice for both family and individual holidays. This was reported to Izvestia on April 23 by the Yandex Travel press service.
Experts noted that unlike its neighbors in the Persian Gulf, Oman offers an unusual variety — here you can swim in the warm waters of the Arabian Sea, explore majestic mountains with picturesque waterfalls, feel the full power of the Wahiba Desert with its golden dunes and enjoy the coolness of shady oases. The country carefully preserves its centuries-old identity, which is reflected in ancient fortresses, authentic markets with spices and handicrafts, as well as traditional villages where time seemed to have stopped a century ago.
"About 95% of Oman's population are Muslims. Traditionally, women in the country are not allowed to wear open clothes: T-shirts, shorts or skirts above the knee. We recommend that you follow local traditions and dress more closeted, especially when visiting places with large crowds," Yandex Travel clarified.
In addition, it is important to remember about other subtleties: for example, food should be taken with the right hand, since using the left hand is considered unacceptable.
Among the main attractions of Oman, experts singled out the capital Muscat with its pearl, the Sultan Qaboos Mosque, striking with its sophisticated Islamic architecture. No less interesting is the traditional Mutrah market, where you can fully immerse yourself in the atmosphere of an oriental bazaar. History lovers should visit the ancient city of Nizwa with its impressive fortress and lively craft bazaar.
For those who appreciate extreme recreation, Oman offers safari in the Wahiba desert with overnight stays in Bedouin camps under the starry sky, as well as unique opportunities for diving and snorkeling near coral reefs. The northern Musandam region will amaze travelers with its picturesque fjords, where the mountain slopes drop off steeply into the turquoise waters of the bay. And the Wadi Shab valley with its clear pools and waterfalls will be an ideal place for trekking.
Experts recommend taking into account some organizational issues: the official weekend in Oman falls on Thursday and Friday, and the hot, dry climate requires a mandatory supply of sunscreens and drinking water.
Oman, while maintaining its status as one of the safest and most peaceful countries in the region, opens up to tourists the full diversity of Arab culture and nature, promising unforgettable experiences and a comfortable stay away from the usual tourist routes.
At the same time, Natalia Anstal, head of the Go Travel tour operator, explained that in recent years, the interest of tourists from Arab countries in Russia has increased. She noted that foreigners are increasingly interested not only in Moscow and St. Petersburg, but also in the hinterlands.
"They are very interested in rural tourism. Oman is one of them. And in principle, the flow of tourists has already increased," Anstal said.
She stressed that the abolition of visas will contribute to an even greater increase in the tourist flow from Oman.
"The abolition of visa restrictions always leads to a positive trend towards an increase in the tourist flow from those countries from which visas were canceled," Anstal shared.
Earlier, on April 22, Izvestia reported that Russia and Oman had signed an agreement on the mutual abolition of the visa regime for citizens of the two countries. Each party grants citizens of the other party's State the right to stay in its territory without a visa for 30 days each time they visit. However, the total period of stay in the country should not exceed 90 days in one year. The visa-free regime does not apply to those entering for permanent residence, study or work.
