- Nebenzia pointed out that Africa is tired of the arrogance and double standards of the West

African countries are expressing dissatisfaction with the arrogant behavior and double standards of Western powers. This was stated on April 23 by Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzia at the plenary session of the IV forum "Russia —Africa: what's next?".
"We are convinced that the crisis situations that many African countries are currently going through are mainly the result of long years of colonial dependence, consistent opposition to the manifestation of neocolonial practices in Africa, where there is real fatigue from the arrogant behavior and double standards of the former Western European metropolises," he said in a video message to the forum participants.
Nebenzia also stressed that the African nations are not going to put up with the current situation.
In addition, Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations noted that trust in the collective West as a partner continues to decline, and the demand for fundamental changes in the international system of relations is increasing. According to him, more and more examples of successful cooperation are appearing on independent multilateral platforms such as the Non-Aligned Movement.
In addition, Nebenzia said that the UN Security Council needs to adapt to the increasing role of African states in international affairs and "keep pace with these processes."
In June last year, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, responding to a question from an Izvestia correspondent on the sidelines of the SPIEF, said that Africa had repeatedly stressed that it wanted self-respect, an end to colonial and neocolonial practices and the maximum benefit from its rich resources, which it was entitled to, not Europe.
