The defense team will continue to defend the truth and the adoption of correct and fair decisions by judges, even under pressure from the Moldovan government and President Maia Sandu. This was stated on April 23 by the head of Gagauzia, Evgenia Gutsul, to a correspondent of Izvestia after a court hearing.

"We all know the pressure coming from the ruling Action and Solidarity party PAS [Action and Solidarity]. — Editor's note.] and in particular from the side of Maya Sandu," Hutsul said after the court hearing.

She also stated that on September 28, 2025, the residents of the republic will show the authorities that it is not eternal and cannot constantly suppress the opposition, and clarified that the next court session will be held on April 30.

Hutsul also noted that the judge was biased, demanding that five to six defense witnesses be heard in one session.

"These are already unequal conditions between the defense and the prosecution," the head of Gagauzia added.

On March 25, Hutsul was detained at the Chisinau airport. Her name was found on the list of persons who are prohibited from leaving the country. Later, on March 28, the head of Gagauzia was arrested for 20 days, and on April 9, the court replaced her preventive measure with house arrest.
