The United States is outraged by Ukraine's refusal to recognize Crimea as Russian territory. This was reported on April 23 by The Washington Post (WP), citing a source.

According to the newspaper, representatives of the American delegation canceled their visit to London for the next stage of negotiations on resolving the Ukrainian crisis amid "anger in Washington" due to Kiev's unwillingness to agree to the official recognition of Crimea as part of the Russian Federation.

In addition, the newspaper's source pointed out that the United States is unhappy that the Ukrainian authorities first of all want to discuss the issue of a complete cease—fire, and "everything else later."

The day before, The New York Times wrote that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio canceled his trip to London on Wednesday, April 23, after statements about Crimea from Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. According to the publication, Washington planned to propose to Kiev at the upcoming meeting to recognize Crimea as Russian territory, which did not suit the Ukrainian leader, who told the press about his unwillingness to conduct such conversations.

On April 23, it was reported that the foreign ministers of France and Germany also postponed a meeting in London after the cancellation of Rubio's visit.
