Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on April 23 that Russia would regard European peacekeepers in the military operation zone in Ukraine as the presence of NATO forces.

"Yes, Russia still opposes (the presence of peacekeepers in Ukraine. — Ed.), but in fact it will be NATO forces and assets on the territory of Ukraine," Peskov said at a briefing.

The presidential press secretary also noted that in fact this was "one of the reasons for the start of the special military operation."

On April 17, Peskov said that the possible sending of a military continent by European countries to Ukraine as part of the so-called "Coalition of the Willing" mission would lead to the continuation of the conflict in the country. According to him, the Europeans are focused on the continuation of the conflict.
