- It became known about the training of an ex-employee of the Moldovan special services Budanov

Dmitry Rusnak, an ex-employee of the Moldovan special services, was personally trained by Kirill Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (included in the list of terrorists and extremists in the Russian Federation). This was announced on April 23 by a correspondent of Izvestia.
In Russia, Rusnak was supposed to collect information about the activities of politicians and law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation, but was declassified by the agency, which saved him from detention. During the interrogation, the ex-employee of the special services did not hide that his supervisor was the head of the Main Directorate of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
"When we talked with him many times about the conflict, I did not hesitate to speak my position openly. <...> I told him, "Well, you know there's no chance, right?" He says: "I understand this, moreover, I understand that the entire European army combined will not be able to withstand the Russian army." So, why are you training me? And he was preparing, he was striving, he really wanted to," Rusnak said.
The former intelligence officer enlisted Budanov's support back in 2020. That year, he helped Ukraine establish contacts with Maya Sandu, then she was only a candidate for the presidency of Moldova.
"Sanda is working in the interests of the West, not in the interests of his people. Sanda provides all the data that will be needed for the recruitment of the SBU and the training of terrorists, and will provide the territories," said Andrei Popov, a veteran of the Alpha special antiterrorism unit, a reserve lieutenant colonel.
Later, agents at all levels for Ukraine began to be recruited in Moldova. Budanov and Rusnak were engaged in this. In the summer of 2021, the former intelligence officer held a meeting with the head of the republic's security council, Alexander Yesaulenko. During the meeting, the parties discussed sabotage at ammunition depots in Transnistria, which took place with the approval of Western states. After being appointed president, Sanda first went to a meeting with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
"The whole of Moldova is under the control of Western intelligence services and, above all, they consider it as a gray zone in which terrorism can be fostered," said Igor Vityuk, a political scientist and combat veteran.
On the same day, the FSB said that Rusnak, who had come to Russia to gather intelligence information, had been expelled from the country. It was clarified that the man arrived in the Russian Federation in 2024 with a mission in which he needed to collect secret information about the plans of the Russian leadership regarding Moldova, representatives of the security forces and other structures of the Russian Federation that are related to the activities of the ex-employee of the special services in the direction of the country. the FSB also showed footage of the interrogation of Rusnak.
