Peskov: Moscow does not regard Vance's statement as an ultimatum

Moscow does not believe that the statement by US Vice President Jay Dee Vance that Washington may withdraw from the negotiation process on Ukraine sounds like a warning or an ultimatum. This was announced on April 23 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
"No, the United States continues its mediation efforts, and, of course, we welcome these mediation efforts. We also continue our contacts, I repeat once again," the presidential press secretary said at a briefing.
He also added that when discussing a peaceful settlement of the conflict, many nuances need to be discussed. Answering the question that information is being received about a possible freezing of the conflict along the line of contact, Peskov warned that a large number of stuffing regarding the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis is appearing in the media.
Vance said earlier in the day that the United States could withdraw from negotiations on a peaceful settlement in Ukraine if Washington's proposals were not accepted in Moscow and Kiev. He noted that the time has come either for them to say "yes" or for the United States to withdraw from this process.
Earlier, on April 18, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the United States was ready to help resolve the conflict in Ukraine if both sides were determined to achieve peace. He added that the United States needs to understand in the near future whether it is likely to reach a peaceful settlement quickly, since in addition to the Ukrainian conflict there are many other issues "worthy of American attention."
