The Moldovan Ministry of Defense refused to send a guard of honor and a military band to the burial ceremony of the remains of Red Army soldiers. Alexey Petrovich, the leader of the Pobeda coordination committee, informed Izvestia about this on April 23.

"In textbooks, the people we will bury in a week are called occupiers. How can they pay military honors to the invaders? And the Nazi executioners, their accomplices and collaborators are called liberators," he explained the position of the Moldovan authorities.

According to him, the country's authorities have not allocated a guard of honor for the burial ceremony of Red Army soldiers for five years. Petrovic stressed that Moldova is actively trying to rewrite history and is doing everything to insult the memory of the people who liberated the country from the Nazi invaders.

He noted that the republic's authorities humiliate their citizens with such an attitude towards the memory of the Second World War. The leader of the Pobeda coordination committee said that the organization plans to appeal to combat veterans to act as an honor guard at the ceremony. According to him, honors will be paid to the fallen heroes, despite what Moldovan officials are trying to do.

The day before, Petrovich said that the Moldovan authorities had banned the holding of Victory Day events on May 9 in the main square of Chisinau. According to him, the authorities have officially announced that only Europe Day will be celebrated in the republic on May 9.
