Lavrov told the Uzbek leadership about contacts with the United States on Ukraine


Russia explained the situation in detail to its friends in Uzbekistan about how contacts with the United States in Ukraine are proceeding. This was announced on April 23 by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during an official visit to the country.
"Root cause issues remain the key to resolving the situation around Ukraine. We have informed our Uzbek friends in detail about the latest developments, including in the context of our contacts with the United States, and in the context of the ideas that the United States has been promoting in its work with Ukrainians and Europeans, including in recent days," the Russian Foreign Minister said.
He also added that a new round of negotiations between Russia and the United States should take place very soon.
Lavrov arrived in Uzbekistan on an official visit on April 22. The plane of the head of the department landed at Samarkand airport. During the two-day visit, the Russian Foreign Minister will hold talks with his Uzbek counterpart and meet with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
On April 18, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the United States is ready to help resolve the conflict in Ukraine if both sides are determined to achieve peace. He added that the United States needs to understand in the near future whether it is likely to reach a peaceful settlement quickly, since in addition to the Ukrainian conflict there are many other issues "worthy of American attention."
