One of the foreign tourists who asked for help died on Elbrus


Rescuers found two of the five foreign climbers who requested help on Mount Elbrus, one of them died. This was announced on April 23 by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation.
"On Elbrus, employees of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations continue the search and rescue operation. <...> Two tourists have now been found. Unfortunately, one died," the message says.
According to preliminary data, two climbers descended on their own. The search for another one continues. It is indicated that 16 people and three pieces of equipment were involved in rescue operations.
The fact that a group of foreign tourists asked for the help of rescuers on Mount Elbrus became known on April 22. It was clarified that, previously, two tourists from the group suffered from altitude sickness.
