Since the beginning of 2025, 181 wolves have been hunted in the Pskov region. These data were reported by Andrey Gorkunov, Deputy head of the regional Committee for Natural Resources and Ecology.

According to him, quoted by the Pskov news feed, hunters are actively involved in measures to control the number of wolves. In 2024, a kind of record was set — 356 individuals were harvested. This year, there are already 181 wolves.

Gorkunov noted that the volume of production depends on the perfection of modern technologies. According to experts, the number of wolves in the region is stable, but high production indicates the urgency of the problem.

If wolves continue to appear in hunting grounds, work on reducing their numbers should be done regularly. This is necessary to ensure the safety of both wild and domestic animals, as well as local residents, Gorkunov said.

Earlier it was reported that the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug may increase the deadline for submitting applications for a hunting license. Instead of three weeks, it will be 30 days. The bill is being considered by deputies of the District Duma. Thanks to the adoption of this project, hunters will have more time to prepare the necessary documents for the permit.
