On April 23, the head of the Federation Council Commission on information policy, Alexei Pushkov, said that the European Union (EU) supports the desire of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to disrupt peace talks on the settlement of the conflict.

"Zelensky's relentless desire to disrupt the settlement is largely based on the support of the Europeans. Zelensky is only standing at the forefront, and the Europeans in the person of [French President Emmanuel] Macron, [British Prime Minister Cyrus] Starmer <...> are telling him what to do from behind the scenes," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to Pushkov, European representatives are playing a double game. They declare their desire to end the military conflict in Ukraine, but at the same time continue to supply new military trenches for the Ukrainian army so that it can resist Russia.

Pushkov also stressed that such actions undermine the peacekeeping efforts of American President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

On March 2, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the United States was directly talking about its desire to end the conflict in Ukraine, but Europe was demanding "the continuation of the banquet."

Pushkov said on March 1 that the European Union's plans to support the Kiev regime were doomed to failure without the help of the United States. In his opinion, Waltz "dispelled doubts" about whether they want Zelensky in the White House.
