Lavrov announced Russia's plans to double gas supplies to Uzbekistan

Russia is ready to double gas supplies to Uzbekistan through the implementation of new infrastructure projects. This was announced on April 23 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a press conference following his visit to the Central Asian state.
"Cooperation in the gas sector is also increasing. A number of infrastructure projects are being implemented here that will double gas supplies from the Russian Federation to Uzbekistan," he said.
According to Lavrov, energy remains an important area of bilateral cooperation at the moment. In particular, the Minister noted the flagship joint project for the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan. The Foreign Minister recalled that the construction agreement was signed last year, but now the implementation of the plan is moving to the practice stage.
Earlier, on March 11, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev said that the trade turnover between Russia and Uzbekistan in the field of food and agricultural products increased by 20%. He noted that the Russian Federation considers the Uzbek market to be very promising for its exporters.
