The Hongqi L1 luxury sedan will appear in Russia in the fall, a company representative told Izvestia during the Shanghai Auto Show on April 23.

The sedan is sold in China under a separate Sunflower sub-brand and is named Guoya. The same luxury line includes an exclusive limousine "Gift of the State", which is used by the leadership of the People's Republic of China. No more than 10 cars are sold abroad per year. The Guoya sedan will be easier to purchase.

"We represent this exceptional level of luxury not only in China, but also in foreign markets. I see dealers from Dubai smiling in the audience," Giles Taylor, Hongqi's vice president of design, said during a speech in Shanghai.

The Guoya/L1, 5.4 m long and with a 3.3 m wheelbase, is equipped with two hybrid powerplant variants with a V6 or V8 engine, both powered by an 8-speed automatic. The chassis is all-wheel drive and fully controllable. The interior is decorated with high-quality leather and precious woods, and the motifs of traditional Chinese art are widely used in the design.

Earlier, Hongqi announced the launch of a new HQ9 minivan on the Russian market. It is offered with a two-liter turbo engine with a capacity of 245 hp (380 Nm) with a 48-volt electrical system and a classic eight-speed automatic transmission. Acceleration to the "hundred" takes 9.5 seconds, the maximum speed is 200 km/h. The length of the car is 5,222 mm, the wheelbase is 3,200 mm.
