A federal emergency regime in forests has been introduced in the Trans-Baikal Territory. This was reported on April 23 in the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation.
"It is proposed to attribute the situation on the territory of the Trans—Baikal Territory to an emergency situation in forests of a federal nature," the press service quoted the head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, Alexander Kurenkov, following a meeting of the government commission.
As explained in the department, in the region there is a high wind load in certain areas with gusts of more than 20 m per second. Despite this, firefighters continue to fight the fire.
Fires were recorded in eight districts and districts of the region: Tungokochensk, Chita, Chernyshevsky, Sretensky, Karymsky, Shilkinsky, Baleysky, Mogochinsky.
In addition, it is specified that another 100 employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations from the regions of Russia will arrive in Transbaikalia to eliminate forest fires.
Earlier, on April 22, the regional Ministry of Nature reported 51 forest fires on an area of more than 166 thousand hectares. The largest raged in the aviation zone in the Tungochensk district.
