- The political scientist admitted the influence of the United States on Zelensky to recognize Crimea as Russian

The United States can influence Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in order to get Kiev to recognize the Russian status of Crimea. Denis Denisov, an expert at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, told Izvestia on April 23.
"We have seen that over the past few months Zelensky and his team have staged almost demarches against certain proposals of the United States, which, of course, does not contribute to the settlement of the conflict and the beginning of constructive negotiations," he said.
Denisov added that a difficult situation is developing for Zelensky on the issue of territories.
"He understands perfectly well how this will affect his rating, his image, and the dynamics of the conflict in general," the expert said.
He stressed that the United States will definitely try to influence the position of the Kiev regime.
"The United States has the tools to influence Ukraine. If there is a political will, then everything will be the way the United States wants," the political scientist concluded.
On April 22, The New York Times reported that the head of the US State Department, Marco Rubio, canceled a trip to London, where a regular meeting with representatives of Brussels and Kiev on Ukraine was planned on April 23, after Zelensky's words about the non-recognition of Crimea as Russian. It was noted that the United States wanted to bring this issue up for discussion at the talks. It was assumed that the recognition of Crimea as part of the Russian Federation would be a guarantee of a cease-fire on Ukraine's infrastructure, the NYT article said.
The next day, Sky News reported that the foreign ministers of the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Germany and Ukraine also refused to participate in the meeting in London. At the same time, it is noted that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga is still planning to meet with his British counterpart David Lammy.
