A suspect in the theft of icons was detained in the Moscow region.


A 34-year-old man suspected of stealing and selling icons was detained in the Moscow region. This was announced on April 23 by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Irina Volk.
"It has been previously established that since February of this year, an attacker has illegally entered private homes located in the Ramenskoye district, squeezing out window frames with a crowbar. From there, he stole icons, and then went into hiding," Wolf wrote on her Telegram channel.
It is specified that the man stole nine shrines from four houses.
Law enforcement officers identified the suspect and detained him at his place of temporary residence in the city of Dzerzhinsky. During the search, the police found seven icons, which will be examined to determine their value. The attacker explained that he had sold part of the stolen goods through an online classifieds service.
According to Volk, the suspect was previously convicted of similar crimes.
Investigators of the Ramenskoye Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia have opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The man was taken into custody.
Earlier, on April 4, police detained a suspect in the theft of donations from the church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the village of Podyachevo, Moscow region. The total amount of damage was about 300 thousand rubles. The person involved imperceptibly took the jewelry donated by the parishioners and disappeared.
