The Japanese Ambassador to Russia, Akira Muto, has protested Tokyo's intention to use the proceeds from frozen Russian assets. This was announced on April 23 on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

They noted that Lyudmila Vorobyova, Director of the Third Asia Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, had met with the Japanese Ambassador the day before.

"The Japanese side has strongly protested its intention to use the proceeds from illegally "frozen" Russian state assets to allocate loans as part of the Group of Seven financial assistance package to Ukraine," the ministry said in a statement.
