Russia's trade and economic ties with Uzbekistan are developing. This was stated on April 23 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during a meeting with his Uzbek counterpart Bakhtiyor Saidov in Samarkand.

"Trade and economic ties, investment ties are developing in our countries <... and concrete ways have been outlined for their consistent and significant expansion," Lavrov said.

According to him, relations between the two countries are based on sovereign equality and mutual respect. In addition, the Russian Foreign Minister noted that mutual trade between Russia and Uzbekistan is growing, despite the difficult conditions of "illegal sanctions."

Lavrov arrived in Uzbekistan on an official visit on April 22. During the two-day visit, the Russian Foreign Minister will hold talks with his Uzbek counterpart and meet with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

It was noted that the parties would discuss the range of the bilateral agenda, review the implementation of agreements on further strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership and cooperation between the countries.
