European countries will face problems if the United States abandons its obligations to ensure its security. This was reported by Politico on April 23.

"Without U.S. support, moving troops across Europe would be slower, more expensive, and more difficult due to multiple logistical challenges. In a real crisis <...>, this can lead to fatal consequences," the publication says.

It is noted that the leaders of European countries have been discussing strategic autonomy for a long time, but, as a rule, within the framework of a system where the American side continues to control the main instruments of troop mobility.

According to Politico, there are not enough planes, cargo ships and specialized vehicles in Europe to move tanks and armored units.

In addition, the transportation of armored vehicles is hampered by weak bridges, sharp turns, narrow tunnels and poorly positioned signs. Most of the modern infrastructure is completely unsuitable for wartime, the publication concluded.

Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth said on April 9 that the American side had not yet developed a plan for a further US military presence in Europe.

At the same time, Bloomberg wrote on March 6 that the armies of the European Union countries could hold out for several weeks at best without the help of the United States due to a shortage of troops, air defense systems and ammunition. According to the newspaper, a complete withdrawal of American troops from European countries is unlikely, but a reduction in the US presence will significantly affect the continent's defense capability.
