On April 23, Russian pranksters Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexey Stolyarov (Vovan and Lexus) published a prank with former Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili, in which she spoke about the critical state of the opposition in the country after the United States stopped providing them with funding.

As part of the prank, which was conducted on behalf of Garry Kasparov, a foreign agent (listed as a terrorist and extremist by Rosfinmonitoring), Zurabishvili spoke about the main areas in which "money needs to be invested to continue the protests."

"The first is the media in general, but with a special focus on regional media. These are the ones who need the least money, because with small amounts of money they can do a lot, they are used to it, but currently they don't even have these small amounts. They are in a very difficult situation. And the central media. The opposition's TV channels are also in critical condition," the former Georgian president said.

Zurabishvili also noted that the problematic areas are trade unions and non-governmental organizations that dealt with social issues and elections. According to her, the latter still have money, as this area is more prepared.

"They [the money] mainly came from USAID (Agency for International Development — Ed.) or some European funds. And the Europeans were quite slow. They said they would transfer money from government programs that had been suspended as sanctions and redirect it to civil society. But this has not happened so far. So the critical moment has come," Zurabishvili said.

On March 13, the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, announced the involvement of organizations funded by the European Union in protest actions in 2024. Papuashvili also recalled that at the end of last year, EU officials did not condemn the actions of the protesters who almost burned down the parliament building, pelting it with firecrackers and molotov cocktails.
