Fully import-substituted SJ-100 made its first flight in Komsomolsk-on-Amur

The third fully import-substituted Russian prototype Superjet (SJ-100) aircraft with domestic PD-8 systems and engine made its maiden flight in Komsomolsk-on-Amur. This was announced on April 23 on the website of the Rostec State Corporation press service.
"The third prototype of the Superjet aircraft has joined the flight test program. A fully import-substituted liner developed by Yakovlev PJSC (part of the Rostec State Corporation UAC) made its first flight in Komsomolsk-on—Amur," the press service said.
It is specified that during the flight, the stable operation of all domestic systems, including the engine, was confirmed. According to Vladimir Artyakov, director of the state corporation, the aircraft import substitution program is in the "home stretch."
"About 40 imported systems and assemblies have been replaced on the liner, including the most important component, the engines. Today, the third experimental machine has already made its first flight," Artyakov said.
In addition, he is the General Director of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of Rostec). Vadim Badekha noted that this Russian aircraft will strengthen the technological independence of the country. According to him, the SJ-100 certification tests will be completed by 2026. After that, aircraft deliveries to airlines will begin.
On April 17, Rostec State Corporation denied that the certification of the import-substituted Superjet was postponed to March 2026 due to the delay in certification of the Russian PD-8 engine. They noted that the company is operating within the planned deadlines and plans to start delivering aircraft to airlines in 2026. Engine certification, as before, is scheduled for autumn 2025.
On April 13, the UAC press service reported that the prototype Superjet aircraft overcame the practical ceiling of its height of 12.2 thousand meters during the flight.
