American entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk announced on April 22 that he was reducing his participation in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) due to falling profits at his company Tesla.

He expressed the corresponding opinion during a conversation with Tesla investors, who were worried about the company's financial performance, which fell by 71% compared to the same period last year.

"Probably, starting next month, in May, my employment at DOGE will decrease significantly," NBC News quoted Musk as saying.

According to the entrepreneur, he will continue his work in the department, devoting no more than two days a week to it. He noted that his work at DOGE will continue as long as it is beneficial.

Bloomberg reported on April 21 that if Elon Musk leaves the post of head of DOGE, Russell Vaught, acting head of the U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), could be appointed to replace him.

On the same day, The Washington Post reported that Musk wanted to leave his job in the government because he was tired of criticism from the left. According to the publication, Musk's status as a special government employee expires at the end of May, but it is not yet known whether this period will be extended.
