A court in the United States ordered the government to restore the work of the Voice of America

The United States District Court ordered the government to resume the work of the United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM), which includes the Voice of America radio station (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation), and other affiliated media outlets that had previously suspended operations due to the decree of the American leader Donald Trump. This was reported by The Hill on April 22.

The relevant decision was made by U.S. federal judge Royce Lambert. According to him, the defendants did not have a clear plan, acted abruptly and radically, did not take into account the legitimate duties of the agency, and also ignored the consequences for employees, journalists and the international audience.

In addition, the court ordered the USAGM to reinstate the employees who were placed on administrative leave and not to reduce staff until the end of the trial, as well as to continue financing international broadcasting, the publication says.

The Washington Post (WP) reported on March 22 that employees of the Voice of America radio station filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration after allegedly illegally shutting down the media. Later, on March 28, it became known that the Federal Court of New York temporarily suspended the actions of the administration of the American president to eliminate the Voice of America radio station.
