The State Duma assessed reports of Ukraine's readiness to abandon the territories.

Russia will come to an agreement with Ukraine if it legally recognizes the Russian territories. This opinion was expressed by State Duma deputy Alexei Chepa on Tuesday, April 22.
Earlier, The New York Post (NYP) newspaper, citing an American official, stated that Ukraine is ready to give up 20% of the territory as long as they are considered de facto, and not de jure, recognized, RT reports. At the same time, it was emphasized that Kiev was not going to give them to Russia forever.
Chepa noted that Russia will carefully study what de facto recognition of the territories means. He stressed that the Russian authorities are only interested in legally binding agreements. At the same time, he admitted that all new Russian regions could enter the announced 20% of territories.
"It is not known whether they consider Crimea at the same time, but these are almost four full territories. The 20% includes Donbass, Zaporizhia and the Kherson region," the parliamentarian concluded in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .
On April 18, Bloomberg reported that the United States may recognize Crimea as Russian territory in the course of a settlement deal in Ukraine between Kiev and Moscow. At the same time, it was noted that the American side has not yet made a final decision.
On April 17, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov recalled that the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR), as well as the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions, are an integral part of the Russian Federation.
The next day, Andrei Klimov, deputy representative of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, told Izvestia that Stephen Witkoff, the US President's special envoy for the Middle East, who did not recognize all new territories of the Russian Federation, could be commented on with the phrase "bargaining is inappropriate here."
