- The State Department announced its desire to resolve the conflict in Ukraine through diplomacy.

The United States is seeking a diplomatic settlement of the Ukrainian conflict and will await the results of negotiations with Ukraine, Britain and France in London on April 23. This was stated at a briefing by the official representative of the US State Department, Tammy Bruce.
"The President [of the United States Donald] Trump wants to resolve this diplomatically...> Both the Secretary of State [Marco Rubio] and the president said that this (the conflict in Ukraine. — Ed.) cannot be solved by military means. They want diplomacy to work," she said at the event, which was broadcast on the department's YouTube channel.
Bruce also said that the US Secretary of State would not participate in the negotiations in London. Trump's special envoy Keith Kellogg will represent Washington at these meetings.
"We look forward to hearing from him about whether we have achieved success in London," the State Department spokeswoman said.
Earlier in the day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia was continuing contacts with the United States on the Ukrainian issue through all possible channels. At the same time, he added that Moscow is not inclined to force a peaceful settlement into a tight time frame.
On April 21, Trump promised to inform reporters about his proposal to resolve the Ukrainian conflict in the next three days. According to him, the recent meetings of the American side with Russia and Ukraine went very well.
