Hungary, Slovakia and South Korea are excluded from the list of countries that are subject to increased customs duties on perfumes and cosmetics. This was announced on April 22 by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.

"The list of countries covered by this measure has also changed: it has expanded, but some countries have been excluded from the list. For example, Hungary and Slovakia, the Republic of Korea are excluded," RIA Novosti quoted the agency as saying.

It is specified that the list of exceptions to the increased customs duty includes French and Italian powder, as well as Italian lip products. In addition, French goods in the categories of "perfumes", "toilet water" and "hair products" will be subject to a duty of 20% instead of 35% under the new rules.

Such changes were made after discussion with the industry community and analysis of the preferences of buyers of products in this category.

"The list of goods subject to the duty has been determined jointly with the business community. This means that this measure will affect only those types of products where manufacturers are already producing analogues that are not inferior in quality and range," the press service of the department noted.

On March 3, Izvestia reported that the Ministry of Industry and Trade had begun work on a set of rules that would apply to foreign companies if they returned to the Russian Federation. It is indicated that so far officials are only discussing ideas for this document. At the same time, the ministry said that the issue of lifting duties on goods from unfriendly countries "will depend primarily on the lifting of sanctions against our exporters." Noting that the discussion around the abolition of duties on certain groups of goods is premature.
