The White House confirmed Witkoff's visit to Russia this week.

US President Donald Trump's Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steven Witkoff, will arrive in Russia this week. This was announced on April 22 by White House press Secretary Caroline Leavitt.

"Later this week, Witkoff will travel to Russia again to continue talks with [Russian President] Vladimir Putin," she said at a briefing.

According to her, the special envoy of the US president and Trump himself believe that the progress of negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine is going in the right direction.

In the afternoon, Witkoff's plans to visit Moscow were announced by Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov. However, he did not specify on what specific day the American special envoy plans to arrive.

On April 11, Witkoff and Russian President Vladimir Putin met in St. Petersburg. It was clarified that the topic of the negotiations was aspects of the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, in turn, called the meeting between Putin and Witkoff a good opportunity to convey the Russian side's point of view to Trump before the talks began.
