Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk held talks in Moscow with Deputy Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Salemsai Commasit. This was announced on April 22 by the press service of the Russian government.
"[The meeting] discussed the current state of the bilateral and multilateral agenda and prospects for strengthening trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Russia and Laos," a statement on the government's website said.
Preparations for the visit of Lao President Thonglong Sisoulit to Russia on the eve of Victory Day, as well as prospects for the development of logistics, tourism, energy and industry were discussed separately.
"We are interested in maintaining the high dynamics of Russian-Lao relations at all levels," Overchuk stressed.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, in 2024 Laos made a significant contribution to strengthening Russia's partnership with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
Earlier in the day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed the development of economic cooperation with the Commander. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, with an emphasis on practical cooperation in trade, economic and humanitarian spheres.
