Balancing the global economy and the advantages of dialogue with Russia in the trade war are important for US President Donald Trump on the issue of economic cooperation with Russia. This opinion was expressed by State Duma deputy Artyom Kiryanov on Tuesday, April 22.

He recalled that Russia's foreign trade balance has always been "somewhat modest," noting that the country's main trading partners have always been close geographically — in the European Union (EU) and Southeast Asia.

Balancing the global economy is important for Trump. And today we see such a quadrangle, if you can call it that: the USA, China, the EU and Russia. In this sense, it is important for Trump that in the trade war he can take advantage of the advantages that dialogue with Russia gives him," the parliamentarian explained in an interview with Lenta.Ru .

According to Kiryanov, the issue is far from mutual trade with the United States and bilateral relations — Russia can offer the United States, in addition to natural resources, high technologies and IT, logistical solutions, interaction with the Arab world, China and the European Union.

Earlier, Tuomas Malinen, a professor at the University of Helsinki, expressed the opinion that Trump wants to improve relations with Russia because of its natural resources, RT reports. According to him, the American leader seeks to normalize the dialogue between Moscow and Washington not only for the sake of global security.

On April 4, Maxim Chirkov, Associate Professor of the Department of Economic Policy and Economic Measurements at GUU, said in an interview with Izvestia that cooperation between Russia and the United States in the field of rare earth metals (REM) could be an important step towards expanding economic partnership between the two countries.

On April 6, Kirill Dmitriev, special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), said that the main goal of his recent talks in Washington was to resume Russian-American relations, with an emphasis on developing cooperation in the economic and investment fields.

According to him, the parties have considered many possible joint projects, including investments in the extraction of rare earth metals, the development of the Arctic and the development of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) market.
