A dolphin beggar has settled off the coast of Sevastopol in the Black Sea, which is fed by humans. The staff of the Serene Sea Center named her Gorgonzola.

The dolphin is not afraid of people. She sailed to Sevastopol back in 2019. The rehabilitation specialists of the center told IA SevastopolMedia that two years ago the female was extremely emaciated, her mouth was injured, and her skin was affected.

According to Sergey Ivanov, professor of the Department of Biology and Zoology at the Crimean Federal University, the dolphin guessed to beg for food from people. Biologists had no hope of her survival, but food from humans helped Gorgonzola recover.

Ivanov explained that if a mammal swims close to a human, it means that it used to live in an aquarium.

Over time, Gorgonzola's hunting instincts and skills will recover. Following the example of her neighbors in the population, she will start fishing on her own.

In early April, it was reported that the process of designing and then building a dolphin rehabilitation center had begun in Sevastopol. Funds for the purchase of a plot of 2 hectares of land were raised with the help of volunteers. For eight years, volunteers have been helping dolphins just by the sea.
