More than 4 thousand elevators in residential buildings will be replaced in Moscow

This year, 4,265 elevators will be replaced in residential buildings in Moscow, the corresponding plan was approved by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin. All new elevators to be installed in Moscow buildings are manufactured in Russia, according to a statement on the capital's portal. mos.ru .

In total, more than 117 thousand elevators have been installed in Moscow apartment buildings, which is almost a quarter of their total number in Russia.

As of 2010, more than 17% of elevators in Moscow apartment buildings were over the service life. In 2011, the government of the capital launched a large-scale program to replace elevator equipment, and since 2015, this work has continued as part of the regional capital repair program.

Since 2011, over 49,000 new elevators have been installed in residential buildings (42% of the total number of elevators in Moscow apartment buildings), and almost four million Muscovites use them. Since 2018, there have been no elevators in the capital's housing stock that exceed a 25-year service life.
