In Transbaikalia, they propose to toughen fines for parents of arsonist children. The initiative belongs to Viktor Minin, Deputy head of the Department of Administrative Practice and Inquiry of the Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the region. She received support from the Deputy Prime Minister of the regional government Victoria Bessonova.

Minin explained that 33 child arsonists had been identified in Transbaikalia. And in 2024, 32 child violators were identified for the entire period. At the same time, the parents of such children are fined 500 rubles. This is the maximum penalty under the article of the Administrative Code for such a violation.

According to Bessonova, quoted by ChitaMedia news agency, tougher fines are the prerogative of federal lawmakers. She appealed to the deputies of the Legislative Assembly with a request to support the initiative.

As of the morning of April 22, 51 forest fires are active in the Trans-Baikal Territory on an area of more than 166 thousand hectares. The largest one is raging in the aviation zone in the Tungochensk district. These are the data from the regional Ministry of Nature.

Earlier, on April 21, it was reported that 878 landscape fires have occurred in the Trans-Baikal Territory on an area of more than 300 thousand hectares since the beginning of the current 2025.
