Art critic Zolotov called Tsereteli an art phenomenon

Zurab Tsereteli was an artistic phenomenon, and everyone loved him. This was announced to Izvestia on April 22 by Soviet and Russian art historian and art critic Andrei Zolotov.
"Zurab Tsereteli, Zurab Konstantinovich, our dear one is an art phenomenon. In itself, his work is an extraordinary discovery in the life of art in the 20th and already the 21st century. But, surprisingly, he was an art phenomenon on his own, as a person, as a personality, as a soul. He is a man of art in his own right," he shared.
According to Zolotov, the artist fully embodied art, which is why everyone recognized and loved him, as well as understood his importance in the creative field. In addition, Tsereteli had the ability to guess talent, which helped many people on their way to a career.
"When he passed, it seems that all the walls started smiling, and we all rose to greet him, not because it was supposed to, but because our soul lifted us up to meet this man. He really attracted the love of space. <...> We loved him very much. Very much," the art critic summed up.
In turn, Soviet and Russian painter, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Viktor Kalinin said that Tsereteli's contribution to Russian and world art is invaluable. According to the Russian painter, the sculptor left his mark, and the power of his gift spread all over the world.
The death of muralist, sculptor and President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli became known earlier that day. His assistant Sergey Shagulashvili told Izvestia that the sculptor died of cardiac arrest in his studio at home.
