Repair of the dam destroyed in the ice drift will begin in May in Birobidzhan

In Birobidzhan, in May and June, repairs of the dam that collapsed during the ice break are to begin. The partial destruction of the left-bank protective structure on the Bira River and the collapse of the pedestrian path were discussed at a meeting held by Acting Deputy Head of the Government of the EAO Maxim Sirotkin.

According to him, it is necessary to repair the hydraulic structure as soon as possible in order to prevent long-range erosion of the coast and the destruction of reinforced concrete slopes.

The reconstruction will be carried out in two stages. First, shore protection works and spot fixation of damage by means of rock filling are expected. Later, design estimates for the major repairs of the dam will be prepared and discussions with the federal center on financing will begin.

Experts believe that as part of the emergency repairs, it is necessary to equip the device with a directional dam in order to change the current near the left bank and prevent further destruction of the embankment.

At the same time, the special commission will examine all hydraulic protection structures in the region in order to identify problem areas and eliminate them, IA EAOmedia writes.

Earlier it was reported that in Birobidzhan, experts will check the sections of roads that were put in order in 2024. This will be handled by specialists from Khabarovsk. Representatives of the Khabarovsk "Directorate of Roads under construction" Far East" inspect the sections repaired in 2024 as part of the national project "Safe high-quality roads".
