Sobyanin spoke about a new sports complex for blind children

A sports complex for boarding school No. 1, where children with severe visual impairments study, has opened in the northeast of Moscow. This was announced by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.
He recalled that the boarding school on 3rd Mytischinskaya Street has been engaged in the education and rehabilitation of children with severe visual impairments for more than 140 years. With the opening of the sports complex, "the children have even more opportunities to improve their health and play sports," the mayor noted in his Telegram channel.
The sports complex, in particular, is equipped with a swimming pool with handrails, a lift and spectator stands. The universal sports hall can be divided into several zones at the same time. The sports complex also has a gym, a recreation area with a showdown table, locker rooms, a medical center and storage facilities for equipment.
According to Sobyanin, a barrier-free environment has been created in the interior of the complex, and the information terminal is equipped with Braille buttons. "An elevator has been installed to move between floors, the handrails on the stairs are specially adapted for blind children, and a warm transition has been built between the buildings," the mayor added.
The sports complex will host physical education classes, as well as regular training sessions and competitions in such sports as swimming, goalball, mini-football, athletics and judo.
As Vladimir Yefimov, Deputy Mayor of the capital for Urban Planning and Construction, reported in March, 17 sports facilities were built in Moscow last year at the expense of budgetary and extra-budgetary funds. According to Yefimov, their total area was about 140 thousand square meters. m. These are sports and recreation complexes with swimming pools, a rowing base, an ice arena and other facilities. Among the most notable are the Luzhniki Tennis Palace in Khamovniki and the multifunctional sports complex on the territory of the Mnevnikovskaya floodplain in the Northern Administrative District.
