Over the past day, 289 road accidents have occurred in Russia.

This was reported to Izvestia on April 22 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. The 13 dead were passengers and drivers of vehicles, the ministry said.
As a result of 76 accidents, 34 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 42 outside their area of operation, nine pedestrians were killed, and 68 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 28 child pedestrians, 18 of whom were injured outside the zebra crossing.
There were 25 accidents involving buses, in which one person was killed, and 34 more road users, including three children, needed medical attention. The reason for 12 bus accidents was the violation of traffic rules by their drivers.
Over the past day, 51 accidents involving minors were registered on Russian roads, as a result of which 50 young road users were injured, including 13 child passengers, four cyclists and five motor transport drivers under the age of 16. Two child pedestrians were killed.
In Ufa, a 32-year-old car driver ran over a six-year-old boy who was walking without parental supervision while driving through a courtyard. The child unexpectedly ran out from behind a parked car for the motorist. As a result of the accident, a young pedestrian was injured and, after receiving medical attention, was sent for outpatient treatment.
In the city of Ussuriysk, Primorsky Krai, a truck driver ran over an eleven-year-old schoolboy who was crossing the roadway at an unregulated pedestrian crossing. The boy died.
In Dagestan, on 8 km of the Manas— Pervomaiskoe regional highway, a passenger car driver ran over an eleven-year-old unaccompanied pedestrian who was crossing the roadway in the absence of an organized pedestrian crossing in the visible area. The State Traffic Inspectorate reminds parents of the mandatory monitoring of leisure time and the behavior of their young children. Do not let them go outside alone, unattended, especially in the evening. Always accompany them during walks, trips to educational classes in clubs and sports sections. To improve the visibility of young pedestrians, drivers of vehicles must necessarily use retroreflective elements on the child's outerwear.
"The lack of parental control over the behavior and leisure of preschool and primary school—age children often leads to injuries or deaths of young road users," Police Colonel Anton Belan, deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, reminded Izvestia.
The State Traffic Inspectorate urges motorists to strictly follow the rules of the road and be more attentive on the roads of settlements and cities. People driving should take special care when approaching pedestrian crossings, slowing down in front of them until they come to a complete stop in order to allow pedestrians crossing the roadway.
"The behavior of children on the road is often unpredictable. Therefore, drivers should not rush to resume traffic, even at a permissive traffic light, until they are sure that the crossing is free of pedestrians," Belan wrote.
Earlier today, it became known about a major road accident in the Tver region on the M11 Neva highway. As a result of the collision of two trucks and one passenger car, two people were injured.
